Hearts on fire

This evening I decided to go for a run. One item that is always present for my runs is my trusty Ipod. I pat myself on the back for the mix, but tonight was special. My first 10 minutes was tough and I couldn't get a rhythm going, but then it happened. Like a light in the dark, John Cafferty's Hearts on fire comes on. Not familiar with Mr. Cafferty(well neither was I, but google took care of that)? He is the genius who wrote the training montage(HEARTS ON FIRE) for Rocky 4. Not familiar with Rocky 4? I say, SHAME ON YOU!! Rocky not only takes on a Steroid killing machine, he takes on the entire USSR!!!

Before I knew what I was doing, I was shadow boxing. Pushing a bit harder than before, driving forward. Now, I wasnt in the deep snow (I was on the mean streets of Sherman Oaks). I wasnt being followed by the KGB(I did possibly hear a dog bark though). I most certainly wasnt fighting the cold war in russia to avenge the death of my best friend either! It didnt matter though, it felt great.

Now, I realize rocky didnt spar one round or even hit pads in preparation.He did however jump rope(I did that today), do pull ups(I did those today!), and damn it, he ran(ME TOO ME TOO!!), And through iron will and the love of his country, he was victorious.

So Thank you Mr Cafferty. You are a great song writer and a true pusher of democracy!
